What are WWOOF Weekends?
WWOOF Weekends are gatherings of several volunteers on a WWOOF farm over the course of a weekend to collaborate on a specific project and learn together.
In this format, over a single weekend, everyone – whether members of WWOOF Portugal or not – is invited to take part in an experience guided by the host farm and accompanied by the WWOOF team, with space both to help with a project and to share, learn and connect.
How it works
Weekends run from Friday afternoon until Sunday after lunch.
During the weekend there are 4 help sessions, each lasting around 3 hours:
- 1 session on Friday afternoon
- 2 sessions on Saturday
- 1 session on Sunday morning
Projects and activities
Each weekend is built around a defined project, designed together with the host farm. Every project is specific to each farm. Projects may include, for example:
- planting a food forest
- building a compost toilet
- cob construction or other natural building techniques
- creating or improving simple farm infrastructures
- other agricultural activities
- and much more!
At the end, we celebrate what has been achieved!
In addition to the practical sessions, the weekend also includes:
- An educational dimension (“Learning by doing!” Participants leave with more knowledge about that weekend’s specific practice.)
- Informal social moments (such as a campfire, games, a film session, etc.)
- Food and accommodation

Food and accommodation are included.
Meals are generally omnivorous and vegetarian, with the possibility of vegan meals if feasible for the host farm.
Accommodation conditions vary depending on each farm and will be communicated for each specific project.
Participation
The number of participants is defined by the farm, according to the proposed project, accommodation conditions and hosting capacity. At least one member of the WWOOF Portugal team will be present throughout the weekend.
Children’s participation and the presence of animals depend on the specific conditions of each farm.

Fees:
- €15 for WWOOF Portugal members
- €25 for the general public
Accommodation, food and participation are included in the fee. Payment is made via bank transfer: PT50004571914027237724093 or PayPal: payment@wwoof.pt.
After completing the form, proof of payment must be sent to info@wwoof.pt within a maximum of 5 days. If not received within this timeframe, the registration will be cancelled.
