The farm selected to receive the 500€ grant is Lapsa Garden, located in Rocha da Relva, in the Azores, with a project on Sustainable Beekeeping. However, the farm recently experienced a significant landslide that made the property unsafe.
Lapsa Garden’s owner, Asnate Plavina, is facing a period of devastation and reconstruction. After gathering and deliberating with the entire team and the Board Members of WWOOF Portugal, we have decided to still offer the Grant.
Asnate has shared with us her pain and challenges in the face of this event, and her determination to rebuild is inspiring. This news reminds us of the importance of continuing to support our network of sustainable projects and agroecology initiatives. The resilient spirit of Asnate and Lapsa Garden serves as a testament to the power of dedication and love for the land.
You can learn more about Lapsa Garden here and visit their instagram.
For all other Hosts, this is an opportunity to remember that the next Host Grant winner could be you! If you are a Host within the WWOOF.PT network and have been with us for at least 1 year, consider applying for the next edition.
We eagerly await to see the incredible projects that will be developed and the positive impacts they will bring to the environment and the community.
Together, we can continue to promote sustainability and agroecology in Portugal!
